Coming together

Independent professions make up a significant part of the healthcare workforce in the UK. 2017 has been a year where we have faced several challenges as a country. There was a change to the Finance Bill, changing the way tax status was determined, protracted contractual difficulties between doctors and the government and there was Brexit.

These challenging times are a clarion call for independent healthcare workers to unite. We endeavour to be the unheard voice of thousands of independent health care workers. We aim to reverse the negative narrative of the media, improve the image of contract healthcare workers and ensure their representation at the appropriate levels.

We intend to continue fostering good working relationships with all our sister organisations, the NHS and its various contractors.

About Us

On 25 March 2017, a historic event took place at Marriott Hotel, Leicester. Locum doctors and other independent / agency healthcare professionals were invited, and attended, a meeting hosted by Dr Ben Itsuokor and Michael Paulin, raising the issue of impending changes to IR35 legislation and how it affected the workforce of independent healthcare professionals.

The inaugural Marriott Hotel meeting was attended by various interest groups of locum doctors, agency workers and independent health professionals, whom had all, in their own respective way, considered challenging the  way this was being implemented within the NHS.

Our Story

So began a movement of locum doctors, creating an organisation that harnesses the uniqueness and diversity of healthcare professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience.
